FAQ003

I am using the software on Windows Vista and I get a message telling me that a memo file is invalid and asking me whether to overwirite it. What should I do?

In Windows Vista, the programs that you use are always opened with "normal user" permissions, even if you are an administrator.

Our software is designed to install so that all users have access to the folders and files used and can update them. If you are getting a message such as the one above it means that the installation has not been able to set up permissions correctly and that files have read-only permissions.

The solution to this problem is to give yourself full access to the files used by EZPZ.

Make sure you are logged on as an administrator in Windows Vista then do the following:

  1. Click the Start button at the bottom left of your computer screen.
  2. Look for Windows Explorer in the left-hand list of programs. If it is not there, type "explorer" in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu. When you have located Windows Explorer, right-click on it and select "Run As Administrator" from the menu. This will open an "Administrator" explorer window. Every action that you take from this window will be executed with full Administrator permissions.
  3. Find the EZPZ folder within the Program Files folder on your hard drive.
  4. Right-click it.
  5. Select the "Properties" option.
  6. Click the Security tab.
  7. Click on the Edit button.
  8. Click on the Add button.
  9. Type "Users" and press Enter.
  10. Click the checkbox under Allow next to Full Control.
  11. Click on OK.
  12. Click on OK.

You should now find that all users have access to the folders and files used and can update them.
